Rotherham: Girls need fathers. Hello?

This last week has seen an outpouring of vitriol and venom against those who were in charge in Rotherham council, its social services and the police during the period when it is reported that at least 1,400 children were sexually exploited whilst in the care of the local authority between 1997 and 2013(The independent report can be downloaded here).

The outcry, which has amounted to a societal shriek, has echoed around the media echo-chamber, gaining momentum in a classic feedback loop. It has even spread to the other side of the globe with calls for Sonia Sharp, the former Rotherham children’s services director, now in Australia, to resign from her current job over the scandal.

Ms Sharp’s response was that she wished she had been able to do more to prevent the abuse.

Even the Tories are Marxist feminists – Astonishing!

In this last few weeks, we have seen two political developments in Britain about the issue of violence against women and girls, and the intimately associated issue of domestic violence/abuse (DVA) in the home, which, of course, in the public’s mind really means much the same thing. After all, across Britain men are routinely raping women on campus, sexually abusing girls by taking advantage of their powerful positions,  and then going home to beat up their wives and partners – according to the feminist narrative, that is.

Did feminists really win the vote for women?

Feminists today lay claim to the idea of the noble fight of women for the vote by the suffragettes in the early twentieth century, but this is a complete canard that has turned into a meme replicating itself in the general consciousness, and getting passed on in endless iterations until it becomes received wisdom.

It is not wisdom.

Can you support equality and not be a feminist?

This comment was posted recently on Reddit and evoked an interesting discussion. Here’s what I said as part of that.

It all depends on what you mean by equality. If you mean equality of opportunity: that every person has an inalienable right to be treated the same as any other and not be inhibited in their aspiration to achieve their highest potential, then I believe no right-minded person would, or could, disagree.

Objectification is only an offence in the feminists’ handbook

Is anyone going to tell me that women don’t have sexual fantasies during sex with their partners? Like imagining some other man or a masculine stereotype is the one with whom they are being intimate? Of course they do. Are they not objectifying the man by doing this? Of course they are. Does it matter? No, of course it doesn’t matter.

It only matters if you are a feminist using feminist ‘reasoning’ and  judging men for doing this. This perfectly normal aspect of human sexuality is condemned by feminists and their philosophical mentors.

‘Pregnancy Discrimination’ – a charter for cheats

‘Pregnancy discrimination is illegal, immoral and completely unacceptable’, says Jo Swinson,1http://conservativewoman.co.uk/kathy-gyngell-lib-dem-hectoring-jo-swinson-feminist-high-horse-working-women/ Lib Dem MP and the Coalition’s Employment Relations and Junior Equalities Minister. However, her argument, which might once might have had the ring of fairness and social justice about it, those qualities that used to characterise the true liberal mind, now sounds more like a cracked bell. It amounts to little more than a ‘right-on’ repetition of mindless mantras in the name of the feminists’ version of  ‘equality’ – and it is a charter for cheats.

‘Then you’ll be a man, my son’

I was engaged in an online discussion recently in which a man was emphatically avowing his feminist sympathies. It felt to me like a turkey sending out Christmas cards. Men who spout the mantras of this divisive, destructive ideology  are flirting with serious social danger.
